NBCUniversal Celebrates Kids Day

On April 25th, more than 3,300 kids joined their parents at NBCUniversal offices nationwide for Bring Your Kids to Work Day. From 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York, to Universal’s Lot in California and more, NBCUniversal kids across the country got to experience the magic of television both in front of and behind the camera.

Kids had the chance to see control rooms in action, take the famed NBCUniversal studio tour, and even got to take a shot at voice-over recordings. The day was filled with incredible activities, from getting to sit in the audience of Nightly News: Kids Edition with Lester Holt, to learning about the weather from our local meteorologists, and even got to see the experts of hair and make up from the iconic Saturday Night Live.

Each NBCUniversal office brought unique elements of their location to life for kids. At our Washington D.C. Bureau, kids learned how to pitch a story, create elevator pitches and did live reporter shoots. At Telemundo Center, kids had the opportunity to be apart of hoyDia's live segment.

In celebration of NBCUniversal's countdown to the Paris Olympics, kids participated in an "Interview Zone" getting to try their hand at being an Olympic correspondent talking about what sports they are most looking forward to watching. They created their own Olympic Torches, participated in Olympic coloring and decorated cards for the Special Olympics.

Also making a splash at Kids Day were the beloved characters from NBCUniversal's most popular film franchises. Kids had the opportunity to learn about the craft of animation from films like Trolls Band Together, Super Mario Bros and Despicable Me. Various locations also hosted business labs for the older kid cohort where our future NBCU executives brainstormed on business ideas for our Destinations and Experiences division team to our Studio group.

Through our Comcast NBCUnites program, all NBCUniversal locations offered a volunteer opportunity which included various ways to get involved from designing crafts, book donations and more. We can't wait for next year!
