SALIL MEHTA
President, Business Operations, Strategy and Development

Salil Mehta was appointed President, Business Operations, Strategy and Development, NBC Universal in February 2008. In this role Mehta is responsible for leading NBCU's global business strategy and corporate development activities, including identifying industry trends and investment opportunities and continuing to shift the company's portfolio toward high-growth areas. He also has executive responsibility for the the company's Digital Media team. Salil reports directly to Jeff Zucker, President and CEO, NBC Universal.

Previously, Mehta served as Executive Vice President of ESPN Enterprises Inc., with general management responsibilities for all of ESPN's non-broadcasting businesses including new media, broadband, mobile, publishing and consumer product businesses. Under his management, ESPN.com continued its leadership in online sports, and Mehta led the transition from ESPN's MVNO mobile business model to an innovative licensing agreement with Verizon Wireless.

Before that, Mehta was Executive Vice President, Corporate Business Development and Strategic Planning for the Walt Disney Company, where he had lead responsibility for the development and launch of new businesses and played a senior role in the development of Disney's long-term growth strategies and mergers and acquisitions plans.

During his 11-year stint in Disney's Corporate Strategic Planning group, Mehta also played a key corporate role in ESPN's affiliate and rights acquisitions strategies, the growth of Disney's international television businesses, and development of Disney's broad digital distribution strategy.

Mehta joined Disney in 1994 as Manager, Corporate Strategic Planning.

From 1992-1994, Mehta worked at the Boston Consulting Group, Inc., where he developed and implemented operational and marketing strategies to improve competitiveness of Fortune 500 client companies.

From 1988-1990, he was a consultant for William Kent International where he formulated global market entry strategic and operating plans for major U.S. clients focusing primarily on the emerging markets of the Pacific Rim.

Prior to that, he worked at the consulting firms Messina and Graham and Strategic Planning Associates, both in Washington, D.C.

Mehta earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Brown University and, as a Fulbright Scholar, completed graduate studies in international political economy at the Delhi School of Economics. He received his M.B.A. in finance from the Wharton School.

He also serves on the Board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. Mehta lives in New York with his wife and three children.
