Nancy Nathan

Executive Producer, "The Chris Matthews Show", NBC News

Nancy Nathan was named executive producer of "The Chris Matthews Show" in July 2002. "The Chris Matthews Show," which made its debut in September 2002, is a half-hour weekend public affairs program produced by NBC news and distributed in national syndication by NBC Universal Television Distribution. Nathan was previously the executive producer of "Meet the Press with Tim Russert" since 1998, and she also served as the director of NBC News' Polling Unit.



Prior to being executive producer of "Meet the Press," Nathan served as senior producer of the broadcast since March 1997. From 1989 to 1997, she was chief Washington producer for "Today," heading the broadcast's Washington office and overseeing editorial coverage, public policy and politics. She served as principal producer for "Today" specials coverage including the 1988 Moscow summit, the 1992 and 1996 national political conventions, presidential elections and inaugurations. Prior to 1989, Nathan was a field producer and staff writer in "Today's" Washington office.



Before joining NBC News, Nathan was a politics producer for the "MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour" from 1984 to1986. Her other experience includes Attorney for the Federal Election Commission (1980 - 1984) and Attorney/Editor for the U.S. Catholic Conference (1977 - 1980).



Nathan is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, and has served on the College's Board of Trustees. She has received the Alumnae Medal of Honor and the Sesquicentennial award from the Mount Holyoke Alumnae Association. She holds a J.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Law, where she served as an editor of the Law Journal, and an M.A. in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University. She is a member of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.



Nathan resides in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband David, and is the mother of three daughters.
