Tom Ehlmann

President and General Manager, NBC5 Dallas-Fort Worth, NBC Owned Television Stations

Tom Ehlmann is President and General Manager of NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS, the NBC-owned station serving the North Texas market.  In this role, which he has held since August 2008, Ehlmann is responsible for all aspects of NBC 5 as well as NBCDFW.COM.

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Ehlmann was Vice President and General Manager of WGN in Chicago from 2004 to 2008.  He was previously Vice President and General Manager of KHWB in Houston from 1998 to 2004.  Ehlmann also held several General Sales Manager positions at stations in Houston, Sacramento and St. Louis.

With a recent infusion of resources, Ehlmann and his team have implemented a community-level news coverage plan serving the many large suburban cities that are part of the market, the first station in the market to do so.  They have also established the “NBC 5 Investigates” team that has increased local government accountability and advocated on behalf of consumers.  In the fall of 2013, the station will move into a new state-of-the-art broadcast facility in the heart of the market.

Ehlmann currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Broadcasters.  He is also a member of the Pro Players Foundation Advisory Board and serves on the NBCUniversal Foundation Community Affairs Council in Dallas-Fort Worth.

A graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ehlmann and wife, Kelly, reside in Southlake, Texas, and have two children, Krystan and Ryan.
