Javier Maynulet
Chief Financial Officer, Telemundo
As Chief Financial Officer for Telemundo Media, Maynulet has comprehensive financial responsibility for Telemundo Network, Telemundo Stations, cable network, digital business, international distribution and studios. He is also responsible for overall controllership, strategic and tactical planning and analysis, as well as the short and long-term financial planning process at Telemundo and works closely with technical and operating leadership to ensure execution of the company’s critical integration plans. He reports directly to Emilio Romano, President, Telemundo Media.
Prior to this role, Maynulet was Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer Universal Media Studios & Universal Cable Productions, NBCUniversal, where he oversaw the financial performance for all of NBCU TV Studios productions and development, playing an instrumental role in growing the TV Studios operating profit in 2008 to deliver a record performance. He also led the development and implementation of the Studio Model Amortization & Reporting Tool (SMART), a first of its kind for the TV production industry.
In 2001, Maynulet was named Director of Finance at NBC’s TV Station in Miami, coinciding with NBC’s acquisition of Telemundo, and became finance integration leader of what became the first NBC/Telemundo duopoly in the country. He moved to the Telemundo Network in 2003 to continue the integration process and later took over the FP&A function. That same year, Maynulet was nominated to the Experienced Financial Leadership Program, where he completed a Business Project with GE Healthcare in Latin America and an audit at GE Corporate in Fairfield.
Maynulet joined GE’s Financial Management Program (FMP) in 1996 after receiving a B.S. in Finance and Information Systems from Boston College. As an FMP, he took positions in NBC’s Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis Group, CNBC Ad Sales and NBC Cable Operations in Hong Kong and Singapore. After completing the FMP, Javier assumed the role of news cost manager at MSNBC and later joined NBC Corporate FP&A.
Maynulet received the GE Finance Leadership Award from Keith Sherin and Jeff Immelt in 2008 and was named Most Powerful and Influential Latino in Entertainment by the Imagen Foundation in 2008. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Maynulet is married to Rocio and they have two children.
