Larry Kurzweil
President and Chief Operating Officer, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Parks & Resorts
Larry Kurzweil serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Universal Studios, including the Universal CityWalk entertainment complex.
Since 1999, Mr. Kurzweil has presided over the introduction of many of the theme park’s signature attractions and oversaw the initiative to reposition the company’s brand as “The Entertainment Capital of L.A.” to reflect its standing as Los Angeles’ premier all-in-one entertainment destination.
Prior to assuming his current post, Mr. Kurzweil served as Senior Vice President of Universal CityWalk and was responsible for the creation and development of the entertainment venue’s extensive expansion. Previously, Mr. Kurzweil held a variety of key executive marketing and management positions at top consumer-oriented companies, including Darden Restaurants and Nestle Foods.
An advocate of community outreach and philanthropy, Mr. Kurzweil serves as the Chairman of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Discover A Star Foundation, supporting homeless and child related causes. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation Board of Governors, is an Executive Board member of the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, a Board of Directors member of the L.A. Sports & Entertainment Commission, and a Board member of the NBC-Universal Diversity Council.
Mr. Kurzweil holds a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. He and his wife, Lauren, have two sons and live in the Southern California community of Marina del Rey.
