Michael Jack

President and General Manager of NBC 4 New York, NBC Owned Television Stations

Michael Jack is the President and General Manager of NBC 4 New York / WNBC, the NBC-owned station serving the Tri-State area.  An industry veteran, Jack brings more than 35 years of local broadcast experience to his role.


Jack has overseen an unprecedented level of investment at NBC 4 to further strengthen the station’s news gathering operation, including constructing a new state-of-the-art news studio, the hiring of additional people, the purchase of new trucks and new technology and the addition of a dedicated NBC 4 helicopter.  Those investments, coupled with the expansion of the 5 PM newscast, the addition of a 12 noon newscast and the expansion of the Sunday evening 11 PM newscast to one hour, ensures the station’s ability to deliver critical local news and information to viewers.


Before coming to NBC 4 New York, Jack served as President and General Manager of WRC, the NBC-owned station in Washington, D.C., from 2002 to 2010.  Branded NBC4, the station is the news, information and community outreach leader in the market.


Prior to that position, Jack was President and General Manager of WCMH in Columbus, where he was responsible for the overall management of the station.  He was also Vice President of Sales at KNBC in Los Angeles, where he oversaw the sales department, including all local and national sales, sales administration, customer service, traffic and operations.


Jack joined NBCUniversal in 1996 after 19 years at Capital Cities / ABC, where he served in multiple management and national and local sales roles in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.  Jack began his career in sales with WABC in New York in October 1977.


Jack was recently named Chairman of the Emma L. Bowen Foundation.  He currently serves as the Division Leader of the NBCU Corporate Diversity Council.  He was Vice President of the Diversity Council from 2002 to 2006.  Presently, Jack sits on the Boards of the New York Urban League, the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families Corporate Advisory Board and 100 Black Men of New York.


Jack graduated from Haverford College in Pennsylvania with a BA in Political Science.  He resides in Jersey City, New Jersey with his wife, Mary, and daughter, Truce.
