NEW YORK - August 31, 2012 -- More Americans turned to NBC News for coverage of the 2012 Republican National Convention than any other broadcast television network.
According to Nielsen Media Research data, NBC's coverage of the 2012 RNC averaged 4.237 million viewers during its 3 nights of coverage (Tue 8/28- Thu 8/30), +23% (+806,000) more than ABC’s 3.431 million.
NOTE: CBS’ final night ran sustaining and numbers are not available. Compared to CBS’ first two nights of coverage, NBC led by +53% (+1.471 million), +100% (+5 tenths) in rating A18-49 and +63% (+5 tenths) in rating A25-54. NBC averaged a 2.8/5 Household rating, ahead of ABC’s 2.3/4 and CBS’ 2.0/3 average for the first two nights.
NBC led ABC in all key demos, notably by +43% (+3 tenths) in rating A18-49 and +30% (+3 tenths) in rating A18-49.
The NBC primetime hours anchored by Brian Williams featured contributions and analysis from Tom Brokaw, David Gregory, Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell, Kelly O’Donnell, Ron Mott, and Luke Russert.
