MIAMI – JULY 16, 2012 – In its premiere week, Telemundo Media’s broadcast of “Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal” (Pablo Escobar: The Drug Lord), Monday-Friday at 10pm ET, averaged nearly 2.1 million total viewers (persons 2+) and nearly 1.2 million adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. On the heels of a highly-rated premiere, the international hit starring Andres Parra as Pablo Escobar ranked as the second-highest novela premiere week in Telemundo’s history among adults 18-49, behind 2011’s smash hit “La Reina del Sur” (Queen of the South), and outperformed CBS and NBC each night at 10pm among adults 18-34 and outperformed ABC Monday-Thursday in the demo.

“Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal” averaged more than 1 million adults 18-49 each night, improving the time period delivery year-to-year by +65% in the demo (1,193,000 vs. 721,000) and capturing 31% of the adults 18-49 audience watching the major Spanish-language television broadcast networks (Telemundo, Univision and Telefutura) at 10pm during the week of July 9. The novela also improved the time period delivery year-to-year by +58% among total viewers (2,058,000 vs. 1,301,000).

Written by Juan Camilo Ferrand and based on the book “La Parabola de Pablo” By Alonso Salazar, “Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal” is taped in high definition with a cinematographic lens and is the most ambitious production ever produced in Colombia. Based on complete journalistic facts and real life testimonies of the people that were involved with this evil genius, the series, created by Juana Uribe and Camilo Cano, portrays the life of Pablo Escobar, the legendary drug lord in Colombia.

“Rosa Diamante” premiered at 8:30pm the week of July 9, and the novela averaged nearly 1.4 million total viewers and 661,000 adults 18-49 for the week. The novela grew the time period by +59% among total viewers (1,355,000 vs. 853,000) and +46% among adults 18-49 (661,000 vs. 452,000) year-over-year. “Rosa Diamante” tells the story of Rosa (Carla Hernández), a beautiful young woman whose destiny takes her to a prestigious boarding school but her life will take an unexpected turn when she meets José Ignacio Altamirano (Mauricio Ochmann), a handsome and smart, yet womanizing, man. “Rosa Diamante” is a Telemundo original production taped in its totality in Mexico with Argos. This novela written by Enrique Torres is adapted by Sandra Velasco Scarpa.
