TODAY Cut the Total Viewer Gap with GMA by Double Digits in Triple Measures: Week to Week, Versus the Same Week Last Year and Versus the Season to Date Average TODAY Placed First in Rating A25-54 for the Week TODAY Posted Its Narrowest Total Viewer Gap with GMA in More Than Three Months Year-To-Date, TODAY is #1 A18-49

NEW YORK – December 11, 2014 – NBC’s TODAY continues to gain momentum and tighten the morning ratings race. For the week of December 1, TODAY narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA by 33% versus the prior week, by 32% versus the same week last year, and by 39% versus the season-to-date average. TODAY also placed first in rating 25-54 and posted its narrowest total viewer gap with GMA in more than three months (since week of 8/18/2014).


TODAY posted the largest across-the-board gains among the morning news shows versus the 4Q’14 and season-to-date levels. Year-to-date, TODAY places first in all 18-49 demo ratings.

Week of December 1

TODAY posted it closest total viewer margin with GMA since the week of 8/18/2014 (451,000)

For the week, TODAY placed first in rating A25-54 with a 1.7 rating


TODAY narrowed the gap with GMA:

  • Versus the prior week by 33% in total viewers
  • Versus the same week last season by 32% in total viewers
  • Versus 4Q’14/STD levels by 39% in total viewers and 55% among A25-54 viewers


Compared to the current 4Q’14/STD average, TODAY posted the biggest gains in total viewers (+7%, or +317,000), A18-49 viewers (+7%, or +105,000), and A25-54 viewers (+7%, or +135,000)


In calendar year 2014-to-date, TODAY is the #1 morning news program among A18-49 viewers


For the second consecutive week and the first time in a year, TODAY’s demo viewer finished under 100,000 viewers versus GMA (excludes Sochi Olympics wins)


TODAY averaged 5.127 million total viewers for the week, leading CBS This Morning by +57% (+1.854 million)


TODAY placed first in rating delivering 1.7 A25-54 GMA posted a 1.7 CBS posted a 0.8


TODAY averaged 1.989 million A25-54 viewers, +103% (+1.007 million) more than CBS


TODAY averaged 1.565 million A18-49 viewers, topping ABC by +4% (+55,000) and CBS by +132% (+889,000)
