Whiting Elevated And Will Continue To License Television And Film Content To Cable And Digital Platforms

NEW YORK — May 30, 2012 — Todd Whiting has been named Senior Vice President, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution, it was announced today by Frances Manfredi, President, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution.

Whiting will continue to work closely with Manfredi in digital content licensing for NBCUniversal’s network and cable TV series and Universal Film to subscription on demand (SOD) clients, like Netflix and Amazon, as well as other digital platforms. In his expanded role, he will also continue to license both television and film content to fully distributed and emerging cable networks.

Whiting has played an integral role in bringing some of NBCU’s most popular series and films to digital platforms including NBC’s “The Office,” “Parks & Recreation,” “Saturday Night Live” and multiple award-winning Universal and Focus features. Whiting has also contributed to various important linear deals such as the off net sales of “30 Rock” and “The Office” and the sale of Universal film slates. In addition, Whiting has licensed both NBC Network and Universal Cable network library content in various lucrative deals to numerous U.S. cable networks and also focuses on the sale of Spanish language content to Latin cable and broadcast networks in the U.S.

Since September 2008, Whiting has served as Vice President, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution. Prior to that, Whiting served as Director, Cable and Ancillary Sales for the NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution division from 2006-2008. Before joining the Distribution team, Whiting was one of the first executives in NBCU’s Digital Media division where he held a variety of positions in business development, digital distribution, operations and production.

Whiting joined NBCU in 2004 as the first hire in the Management Associates program designed to train high potential future business leaders. Prior to NBCU, Whiting earned his Masters of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.

He began his career in communications and sales after graduating magna cum laude from Pepperdine University in California. Whiting previously held a variety of positions at Fleishman-Hillard Public Relations, Ketchum Communications and UBS PaineWebber.

Whiting was born and raised in La Canada-Flintridge, California and was selected to be a part of the 2007 U.S. Olympic Development Team for the winter sliding sport of Skeleton. Whiting resides in New York.
